Celebrating Diverse Perspectives, 1st - 4th July 2019, Monash University, Caulfield, Victoria, Australia

Welcome message from the Convenors

Dear fellow members of the JSAA and visitors,

On behalf of our colleagues, we are delighted to host you at Monash University, where Japanese studies has been a dynamic and innovative part of the Faculty of Arts for more than fifty years. With specialisations in Japanese linguistics and language acquisition, anthropology, translation studies, cultural studies and history, our staff and students continue to develop and transform Japanese studies in Australia and beyond.

Hosting the JSAA2019 at Monash is a great privilege. We hope to create an environment where Japanese studies specialists from around the world can share their perspectives, receive constructive feedback, and network with colleagues. We hope that the JSAA2019 will support existing and developing research, and inspire new and diverse pathways in Japanese studies in future. We invite researchers from various fields to join us in “Celebrating Diverse Perspectives”.

We look forward to seeing you in Melbourne and to hearing about your research.
